Merit Badge Counselor Training
Merit badge counselors learn their exact duties, under the rule
of “use the requirements, no more, no less,” to ensure that
Scouts properly complete merit badges which you are counseling.
Other rules, including Youth Protection, are discussed. Offered
by the S.E. Wisconsin Council Advancement Committee.
Life-to-Eagle Training
For Star and Life Scouts and their parents and Scout
leaders, to learn best-practices in working toward the Eagle
rank. Designing service projects, getting proper approval,
budgeting, documenting work, leading and involving others in
your project is discussed. Other topics include allowing enough
time for specific required merit badges, completing the Eagle
application, and details on how the Eagle Board of Review is
conducted. Offered by the S.E. Wisconsin Council Advancement
Committee.
ScoutParents Unit Coordinator Fast Start (on-line)
This new unit position is a liaison between parents and the
unit. The ScoutParents Unit Coordinator works to get parents
more involved in the unit. Other duties involve providing an
orientation on how the unit works, and keeping parents updated
on upcoming unit activities and events. The Fast Start for
ScoutParents Unit Coordinator can be accessed under the
“General” tab in MyScouting e-learning.
Climb On Safety (on-line)
Climb On Safely is the Boy Scouts of America's recommended
procedure for organizing BSA climbing/rappelling activities at a
natural site or a specifically designed facility such as a
climbing wall or tower.
Weather Hazards (on-line)
At least one Scouter on an outdoor event must have taken
this new on-line course, to insure the safety of your unit in
the event of bad weather. Scouting rules have recently changed
regarding lightning events, and issues regarding tornadoes,
lightning, flooding, hot and cold weather, hail and hurricanes
are covered in this session. This training is mandatory for at
least one adult on each tour.
